One of the motivating factors which spawned the desire for Founder Sue Mbaya to have her own sphere of influence was the time she spent at Compassion Ministries, a development and humanitarian outreach organization. There she saw poverty and its multi-generational consequences. Birthed from that experience, SM & Associates endeavours to support organizations like Compassion Ministries to prevent and reverse the ravages of poverty. SM & Associates has a particular concern for the rights and well-being of children from disadvantaged situations.

Africa’s challenges are many, but so are opportunities available to the continent. One of the opportunities lies in the number of gifted individuals, business people, sports icons and artists who are passionate about the continent. These individuals represent a formidable resource base for the work of establishing the continent as a vibrant and prosperous one. SM & Associates endeavours to provide mentorship on public policy, diplomacy and international relations to these talented individuals in the context of their various sectors, with the view to helping them to realise their transformative potential.

The future of Africa lies in the potential of its young people. It is for this reason that SM & Associates is an organization with a passion for supporting the emergence of young social activists and entrepreneurs. SM & Associates does this through its support to organizations such as Kubamba. Through its Internship Programme SM & Associates contributes to developing the continent’s critical human resource base by offering young people and opportunity to experience the social policy and political science work environment. Our internship programme has benefited young people from Burundi, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
